Gel vs. the Alternatives
Why a gel instead of a spray?
Because most of an underbody is vertical or overhead. A spray sags off a frame rail web and drips off the underside of a belly pan before it sets, and even where it stays it is a thin film with no reservoir behind it — one hard rain or one hot week and the actives are gone. A gel has the body to hold position on those surfaces and enough volume to keep releasing over time.
What about foggers and bombs?
A fogger saturates an enclosed volume once. That can be a reasonable one-time step for an interior before you close a unit up for the season. It leaves almost nothing durable behind, and it does nothing at all for the underbody — which is where rodents actually decide whether to come in.
Are pellets and pouches not simpler?
Simpler to place, harder to sustain. They are objects, so rodents move them, moisture flattens them, and the medium goes flat as it dries. And on a lot with fifty or a hundred stored units, a placement-and-replacement program is real recurring labor — the kind that quietly stops happening halfway through the season.
Do ultrasonic devices work?
We are not going to defend them. Independent evidence for ultrasonic rodent repellers is thin, and there is a practical problem on top of that: they need power, and a camper sitting in a storage row is not plugged into anything. We would rather lose a sale than tell you otherwise.
If a gel is better than a spray, why can it be sprayed on?
Because those are two different uses of the word. The argument on this site is about what the material is — a thin liquid film with no reservoir behind it versus a gel body bonded to the steel. How it leaves the container does not change that. Spraying a gel puts a gel on the metal; spraying a thin liquid puts a thin liquid on the metal. You can also brush ours, which you cannot meaningfully do with an aerosol.
Durability & Application
Do I need spray equipment to apply it?
No — it can be brushed on. The same body that lets a gel hold position on an overhead surface is what lets you load a brush with it; a thin liquid sprays well and brushes into nothing, a gel does both. Spraying is faster on a long belly pan or a row of units, but it is a speed choice, not a requirement. Nobody has to buy a rig to use this, which is exactly why a dealership can start treating units next week.
Will it wash off in the rain or at a car wash?
It is applied as a coating that bonds to the substrate, not a film sitting on top of it, and it is formulated for underbody exposure — road spray, freeze-thaw, and highway miles. That said, adhesion depends entirely on the prep. Applied over road film or flaking old undercoat, it will come off with whatever it was stuck to.
What prep does it need?
Degrease and dry the underbody — this is the step that decides how the product performs. Remove flaking undercoat, loose scale, and packed mud. Fix any active water leak before coating over it. Then map every wiring and plumbing penetration, slide-out opening, and belly pan seam, because those are where you want extra build.
Can I apply it myself, or do I need a shop?
Owners do apply it themselves. What it really takes is safe access to the underbody — jack stands and a creeper at minimum, a lift ideally — and the willingness to do the degreasing properly. If you cannot get comfortable under the unit, have a shop do it; the prep is the part that gets shortcut when access is awkward.
How often do I need to reapply?
Any scent-based product depletes over time; the gel carrier stretches that interval from weeks into seasons. Most owners and lots tie the refresh to the storage cycle. For the actual interval guidance, ask us for the current technical data sheet — we would rather send the document than post a number here that ages badly.
Product, Coverage & Buying
What is actually in it?
Actives derived from mentha arvensis — wild mint, the high-menthol species — in a carrier built on mentha, cornmint oil, derived components. Naturally derived on both sides. It is a repellent, not a rodenticide: there is no bait in it and nothing for an animal to eat.
Why do you not publish a coverage rate?
Because underbody coverage swings wildly with configuration — an open utility trailer and an enclosed Class A belly pan of the same length are entirely different jobs — and a number posted on a web page tends to outlive the formulation it described. We send the current data sheet and help you work quantity for your actual unit. That is more useful than a headline number.
Is Repel Gel the same thing as Mint Repel?
Yes. Same product, two names you will encounter it under.
What do volume terms look like?
We ship single units to owners and pallets to dealers, storage operators, fleets, shops, and manufacturers. Volume pricing is real and worth asking about — tell us your region and approximate annual usage. WatchGuard private labeling is available if you want it under your own brand.

What makes this workable on a dealer lot?
Two things, both of them format questions. It is a coating rather than a program, so there is no object count to place, service and replace across fifty units — apply it, log the date, done until the refresh interval. And it brushes on, so treating a unit costs you a porter with a bucket and a creeper rather than a spray rig and a bay.
Where does it fit in a dealership's process?
At receipt for inventory that will sit a season, at PDI as a pre-delivery value item handed over with the unit, and in the service department as a paid line on a winterization or storage-prep ticket. Most dealers who start with one end up doing all three.
Do mobile home dealers and park operators use it?
Yes. A manufactured home's underbelly membrane is almost entirely overhead surface in a crawl space that is awkward to get equipment into, which is close to the ideal case for a brushable gel. Storage yards and RV parks apply across many units at intake for the same reason.
How do volume and private label work?
